Neuroaffirming Microschool KC's Nonprofit Startup Fundraiser

Neuroaffirming Microschool KC therapeutic microschool operated by our nonprofit Neuroaffirming KC.

Founded by an all-autistic board of women+ directors, Neuroaffirming KC is creating the region’s first fully neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-informed, sensory-safe program for autistic & neurodivergent people. This will grow quickly to include support for people of all ages. 

This groundbreaking initiative will provide compassionate community, inclusive education, & social support. Our services are all led and staffed by autistic professionals. The nonprofit will eventually incorporate the entire KC community into this mission through neuroaffirming education, rare services for autistic/ND adults, coaching for struggling families, building local connections, and much more.

‼️ The need for this work is urgent ‼️ Autistic children, both teens & kiddos, face high rates of mental health struggles, suicidal ideation, self-harm, & suicide attempts. Much of this is due to harmful treatment approaches like ABA, which has been proven to cause long-term trauma. Adults are entirely overlooked, with extremely high rates of unemployment, underdiagnosis, suicidal ideation, and severe autistic burnout. NMKC’s approach counters this reality with small-group student-led learning, integrated therapeutic activities in the classroom, and supportive employment. This provides not just a sense of belonging, but a path to empowerment. The same neuroaffirming, intersectional foundation used for the therapeutic microschool applies to all our nonprofit's services!
